chatting and helping the children in the different things that are happening, as well as being a smiling face welcoming them in. Felicity is able to do lots of different things, including share Bible stories in new and imaginative ways, and Adrian Blazey and Martin Schönbeck make themselves available for some songs.

There has also been help from many others including those who are on the helper list for Junior Church.

Becky Hartwell
Prayer

In March 2008 when I took on the task of following Adrian Stanley as Prayer Deacon, to say it was daunting would be an understatement.

But Adrian in his wisdom had set us on the right path and had started our Prayer Parlour which continues from 10-00 to 10.15am each Sunday in the Morton Brown Room. This is a helpful quiet time to share concerns with the person who will then lead the prayers during the service on a rota system which was also initiated by Adrian. Thank you to all those who already serve the church in this way, new names are always welcome.

During this year we have also introduced an e-mail prayer chain to complement the telephone one that was already in place; and we have introduced the opportunity for people to come forward for prayer at the close of the morning service too.
Please ask me if you would like more information about the prayer life of our church, or if you would like to help.

Lorraine Gasside
Prayer Group

The Wednesday Prayer Group has become a moveable feast; the time remains the same (9.30am) to allow for people having later arrangements that morning, but the venue now moves round various homes. Anyone is welcome … please don't be nervous about praying.

Prayer is always about Highbury and also always about other concerns. The time is spent in an informal but scheduled manner, usually about half an hour, and the material part of the feast generally involves biscuits afterwards!

Prayer Handbooks

The 2008 book was called “A chair pulled up to the place of prayer” and it contained prayers from writers all around the world. Thank you to the 20 subscribers.

The 2009 book is called “Hush the Storm” and new subscribers are always welcome.

“Celebrating our Diversity in God” 2008 - Daily Devotions – this was a special edition celebrating the Council for World Mission’s 30th Anniversary, and it drew from the deep spiritual wells of a global ecumenical and mission community.

Grateful thanks to all who subscribed – it was very well received.
