Highbury Home            -  13  -              Reports 2008
David and Kerry, Ruth and Matt, Mark and Lizzie, Julie and Richard, and hope that our contribution helped in making their day a happy one. We wish them all well, as we do the young people who were Baptised this year.
We look forward to another year of giving pleasure, and to all who contribute in any way we extend our grateful thanks.

Pastoral Care
We are happy to report that over the past year our Church Visitors have continued to visit and distribute ‘Highbury News’ to members and friends each month. From comments received this service is greatly appreciated, especially by our friends who are confined to their homes, enabling them to have a chat with a friendly person.
On average about 35 copies of ‘Highbury News’ are mailed to friends away, worldwide, each month, keeping them aware of Highbury activities.
Keeping ‘in touch’ through the Visiting Scheme, ensures that our Minister and we are kept aware of joys, sorrows, problems, sickness etc., and then help can be offered and given where and when necessary.
A special visit is made to our most senior folks on their birthdays, when they receive a greetings card and little gift to recognise these occasions; and the ’phone calls we receive show that these are much appreciated.
The Deacons share the visiting with their District Visitors whenever they can, at holiday times and in an emergency especially; and they also make a seasonal visit to the more senior friends prior to Christmas.
We are delighted to welcome Phil and Joyce Arnold and David and Betty Butcher, who are gradually taking over our responsibilities on the Pastoral Care Committee.
We wish to say ‘thank you’ to all the Visitors and Deacons who so readily give of their time, providing such a vital service from month to month throughout the year.

Church Weekend Away
In November 2008 a large group of us spent another weekend at Brunel Manor in Devon.
As the co-ordinator I was initially anxious about the date we were offered and thought that no-one would want to drive to Devon in the winter, how wrong can you be!
The weather was very cold but the open wood fire welcomed us and a very enjoyable and relaxed weekend was spent getting to know each other better with worship, fellowship and fun.
Those who were not able to join us have hopefully enjoyed seeing the banners we made in church and singing the new Christmas songs we practised.
If you haven’t been able to join us before please consider coming along to the next one it is booked for May 2010
