Highbury Home            -  16  -              Reports 2008
our regular prayer times. However, on ones birthday it is a lovely idea to be able to also give, financially, to help this work. Is it not “more blessed to give than to receive”?

I would love to add the names of lots more people to my list, and to send them birthday cards! So, if you would like to join the Scheme by giving me your name and birthday date (you need not tell me the year if it is a big secret!) or if you would like more information, please contact me.

A number of parents have added their children’s names to the Birthday Scheme in past years, and it is a great way to teach them that a donation is given to the work of spreading the Gospel around the world on their birthday. Two people on my list started having money donated by their parents on their birthdays when they were too young to understand - they are now both married, but still part of the CWM Birthday Scheme!

Your donation will automatically be ‘Gift Aided’ if you have already signed a Gift Aid Form for the Church.

Diana Adams
South West Midlands Area
of the
Congregational Federation
The SWMA executive met twice during the year, at Highbury, as usual to discuss Area business, to support Area churches and share ideas. This executive plays a vital role especially in supporting our smaller churches.
We also had two local gatherings for all area churches at Fairford and at Southam.

I would encourage people to note future dates and attend, they are always very enjoyable days of business, worship and fellowship, with workshops sharing ideas and supporting each others ventures.

We continue to struggle to fill vacancies on these committees and again I would encourage you to become involved, the smaller churches in our Area really need and value our support. There is currently a vacancy to join me in attending on Highbury’s behalf, and I would be happy to talk to any interested people.

If 2009 is the year you would like to start finding out more about Congregational Federation churches in our local Area there in an invitation to St James Church, Lockleaze, Bristol BS7 9TD on Saturday 14th March. More details on page 29.

Christian Aid at Highbury
Thank you very much to all the Highbury Church carol singers who did a fantastic effort in raising money for Christian Aid at Sainsbury’s supermarket Oakley in December. You raised £107.35 in just 1 hour!
The total raised at Sainsbury’s over the 3 hours by the local churches was around £350 - a splendid amount.
