Highbury Home            -  24  -              Reports 2008
Maintenance

During 2008 significant improvements have been undertaken to the premises at Highbury. The major works completed were:
· Replacement of the old boilers with new energy efficient boilers and controls, together with new pipe runs to a significant part of the hall and adjoining rooms to improve the heating in these areas.
· Testing and upgrading to the electrics to bring up to current standards.
· Replacement of the faulty water heater in the kitchen.
· Lowering of the two side door
thresholds and installation of gentle gradients on the approach. This has provided a much improved level access for those in wheelchairs and parents with pushchairs.
· Installation of hand rails to both sides of the raised platform and to the pulpit steps, making assent and decent much safer.
· Internal decoration work has also taken place within areas of the Manse, together with insulation in the roof.

Christian Arts Academy Taste and See Day
‘Arts in Mission’ in association with Arts Ecclesia is to run a pilot for their Christian Arts Academy in Cheltenham. Training in performance skills is extremely popular just now and the first term for this exciting nationwide venture will begin in September 2009.
Classes in Dance, Drama, Fine Art, Music (vocal and instrumental) and Worship Leading are on offer for people of all ages. Sessions will be held on one Saturday per month for a year, with homework and private study in-between. Christ is like a single body, which has many parts;
it is still one body, even though it is made up of different parts.
All of you are Christ’s body, and each one is a part of it.
