A Prayer as we Serve God
  O Lord God,
  the light of the minds that know you,
  the Life of the souls that love you,
  and the strength of the hearts that serve you:
  Help us, so to know you
  that we may truly love you,
  and so to love you
  that we may fully serve you,
  whom to serve is perfect freedom;
  through Jesus Christ our Lord,
  who lives and reigns with you
  and the Holy Spirit,
  one God, now and for ever.   Amen.
As this issue of Highbury News carries an invitation to the Annual Meeting and  brings together the Church’s  Annual Reports it is a reminder that ‘Service’ is at the heart of what it means to belong to church.
We are called as Christians to serve God by serving one another and serving the world around us. Such a call to service is not a burden. Far from it, the Christian call to service is liberating. This is something St Augustine recognised in a prayer that is attributed to him. Our prayer is that we may fully serve God whom to serve is perfect freedom. What a wonderful prayer!
