sharing in many church family events in this way.
We enjoyed a variety of concerts during the year, and spent another weekend at Brunel Manor. Thank you to everyone who was part of arranging and helping with these events.
With thanks for your support of the Church Secretary.

Church membership
At the beginning of 2008 we had 144 members. During the year three members relinquished their membership; and sadly three members died, Adrian Stanley, David Shipley and Margaret Pote.
We received nine new members, Phil and Joyce Arnold, Reg Hochkins, Becky Hartwell, Judi and David Marsh, Betty and David Butcher. The membership total at the end of 2008 was 146.

Deacons’ Report
At the Annual Meeting in March four Deacons were elected, Mary Michael and Iain MacLeod for a second term, Darryl Mills back after a break, and David Roberts for the first time. Sue Cole joined the Diaconate as our newly elected Church Secretary.
Sadly Adrian Stanley died as he completed his term of office, but he left us with a legacy of an inspirational commitment to prayer.
It has been good to have Becky Hartwell with us at our meetings this
year, keeping us up to date with her work, and sharing new ideas. We have also greatly appreciated having Helen Roberts as our Minute Secretary.
We continue to work as a team supporting Richard and Becky. Please remember we are elected by the Church Members, to help you and to work together. Please ask if you have any queries, or would like to offer help in any way in the life of our church - a Deacon is on duty in the porch before and after all services.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my friends on this team for their continued commitment to this role.

Finance Report
We have had a very busy and expensive year in 2008 with two major improvements to our premises:
We have replaced our very aged boilers (40 years old), along with an extensive re-routing of pipe work, to improve the overall system. The new system is now computer controlled, which will maximise efficiency. At the same time there has been a requirement to have our electrical system upgraded to meet current standards. These two improvements will not only give immediate benefit but will continue to prove their worth for many years to come. A large vote of thanks must go to Darryl Mills for the enormous amount of work he has done in the programming and carrying out of the boiler/central heating upgrade, plus the update of the electrics. Ian White has also played an important part in
